I can’t resist stepping back in time, particularly if an object is as lovely as this. The “Campus Queen” steel lunch box was made in 1967. It even included a thermos flask (mine no longer has this, and it is showing its age, but I love it just the same). Great illustrations of student life on the sides, and on the back, a game takes you from study hall to the prom, with stops at the Soda Fountain, Movies, and Beauty parlour.

Thanks to YouTube, you can also spot it in the music video for Cyndi Lauper’s 1984 number one hit, “Time After Time.”
Have a happy September!
Oh this is lovely! Who’s want to be caught in the rain on Prom Night?
Thank you! My life is more prosaic – was caught in the rain shopping food for tonight’s dinner. But we can dream 😊
🙂
A superb snapshot from your collection, Wibi. I love how the artwork reminds me of the 1960s Barbie catalogue designs. Those metal lunchbox and thermos packages have been popular for some time, covering many franchises from Marvel to DC to Star Wars and more. Your Campus Queen one is a standout, as it has the game on the reverse. Very cool! 😎
Thank you for this and for sharing your extensive and fabulous Barbie collection 💖
I do love this ! A beautiful lunchbox and game in one – perfect for school or the office !
